A Broken Heart

We as a nation are suffering from a broken heart following the loss of so many innocent lives. This is not a story about gun control laws. This is not a story about right versus left. This is a story about mental illness. To make it about anything else would be a crime. My friend Wendy suggested that I read this article by Liza Long. It is a sad but true reality for many mothers. If you have not read it yet, then go read it. I will wait.

Before I go any further I have to say how angry I am about the way the mainstream media handled this. It was a full day of incorrect information. It was Yellow Journalism pure and simple and they should be ashamed of themselves. Network after network jumped on the bandwagon with nonstop coverage spouting misinformation and lies. I want facts not lies. If you don't have any information for me then go do something else until you do. I am a patient person. I will wait for the facts.

In the coming weeks you will see many groups jumping on their soap boxes to proclaim that this or that was the reason for this tragedy. At this point we know very little about the man that did this. The ONLY thing we know is that he was mentally ill and very angry. Until the investigation has been concluded we won't know anything else. 

Here is what I would like you to do. Hug your little ones and let them know how much you love them. Pick up an extra toy and donate it to a local charity in the name of those innocent lives that were lost. If you would like to do something more, then donate to the fund that Newtown CT has setup for the families.
