I hated eggs when I was a little girl. Absolutely hated them. In fact the only way I would eat eggs is hard boiled. Many years into adulthood I found out that I have an egg sensitivity! My dislike was my body's way of protecting me. Since then I've found that I can have eggs, just not every day.

Yes, ANOTHER pork roast! LOL! Ryan found us an incredible deal on pork this month and it is the protein that has sustained us. I can't wait to see what April brings! I think you will love this one. It's full of ginger and garlic but it doesn't overwhelm. Serve it up with some fried rice and egg rolls for a delicious Chinese feast!

Meet Norm. Norm is a 7 1/2 year old Great Dane. He adopted us a few months ago after the death of a friend. Norm is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. He likes everyone and just wants to be your friend. His size may look intimidating but he's a big ol' goof ball looking for pets and treats!

Every night I wake up between midnight and three A.M. it's usually a combination of pain and having to pee. The only problem with this is that once I wake up it's takes a long time for me to fall back to sleep.

I'm in pain. There is not a day that goes by that I do not hurt. Sometimes the pain is tolerable and some days the pain is so bad that I cannot stand for more than a minute. On those days Ryan will cook for me. I am very lucky to have a daughter that cares for me physically, financially and emotionally. I thank G_D for Ryan every day.

I LOVE the Dollar Tree! I shop there for snacks for the month, stocking stuffers, Easter basket stuffers, craft items and oh so much more! It truly is one of my favorite stores in Rapid City. I can afford everything in the store!

We are getting so close to the end of the month! Man, it went by fast. The end of the month means that I am scrambling to stretch my fridge and pantry contents to last until April 3rd. I always make it but sometimes it gets pretty tight. Oh the joys of living on a limited income!

I am a HUGE Hunger Games fan. I fell in love when Suzanne Collins published the first book in 2009. I was hooked and anxiously awaited each book to hit Amazon bookshelves.
When the kids were little I would make fried chicken all the time. Hot from the frying pan or cold from the fridge on a picnic, there is nothing like fried chicken. The crispy outside and the juicy flavorful chicken inside. There is not a meal like it.

I love Butternut Squash. It's so easy to prepare and delicious. It can be served sweet or savory. Two months ago Ryan's friend had Butternut Squash in her Bountiful Basket. She's not a fan of Butternut Squash, but we sure are! Since then I have included Butternut Squash in every shopping trip.

What absolutely crazy weather we are having. We were in the high 70s over the weekend. All of our windows were open. We spent a lot of time outside playing with Norm our Great Dane. It feels like we've skipped winter this year. There were so few days that I actually had to wear a warm coat and snow? We've had very little snow in South Dakota. We are at extreme fire danger because of the lack of snow. I am crossing my fingers for a Spring blizzard. Crazy, right?

Corned Beef is on sale this week! I picked up 3 packages at my local Safeway for an unbelievable price. It's the perfect time to stock up! Make one this week and save the rest for a time you are craving corned beef.

We are in baby shower mode here at casa Lawler! Ryan's best friend and co-worker Wanda has a baby cooking and we are planning her shower for the first weekend in June. So much to do and so little time to do it in. So many things to think of, but the most important thing is what should we get the new mom and dad?

Can you believe this weather? Here in South Dakota it will be in the mid 70s today! That's unbelievably warm for March!

Certain foods bring back strong memories of childhood. At Thanksgiving it's the stuffing. At Passover it's the Matzo Brei. When I am sick it's chicken soup. During the week on a cold evening it's Salisbury Steaks.

The other day I mentioned the beautiful vegetables I got in my Bountiful Basket. I decided to put more of them to use in our meal last night. In our box of fruits and veggies there was a beautiful bunch of asparagus, some summer squash and these glorious green onions. The perfect ingredients for a Lemon Chicken Pasta.

I made a pork roast again over the weekend. Big surprise right? I found this incredible deal for 20lbs of pork roast for $18.00. I wasn't going to pass that up! We separated it into packages and froze the rest. Good deal!

Last night I asked Brad what his favorite Tupperware pieces are. The cool thing about these items is that two of them have a special deal going on until March 11th, so if you are interested you will need to contact Brad at Bradstupperware@gmail.com so you don't miss out!

I look forward to our Bountiful Basket. In case you are wondering, Bountiful Baskets is a food co-op that is available in many (but not all) states. We pool our money to get the best deals on fresh fruits and vegetables and cut out the middleman. We get a basket once or twice a month. I so look forward to those days. This past weekend my friend John picked up my basket and brought it over. It was exciting going through it to see all the delicious treasures held inside. Once I take inventory I start planning!
There are certain pieces of Tupperware that instantly bring back childhood memories. The first is the Tupperware Shape-O Ball. What household did not have one of these wonderful shape matching toys? It now comes in two more colors which are on sale during the Mid-March Sale!

Ryan's morning are very busy. In addition to the usual shower, getting dressed and doing her makeup she also has the responsibility of caring for our 8 year old Great Dane, Norm. She walks him as soon as she wakes up and then walks him again just before leaving for work. Some mornings are so crazy that she just doesn't have time to eat a proper breakfast.

The first time I watched Finding Nemo was with my grandson. We loved it. The animation was stunning, the characters were true characters and the story of a boy finding his way home to his dad and having adventures along the way was inspiring. When the credits came up I screamed "SEQUEL" and now, here it is with Finding Dory.

Raising kids on a tight budget meant finding inexpensive ways to make delicious food. I utilized ramen as a way to stretch our food dollars. Ramen noodles themselves are so versatile. I did not use them just for soup but for Lo Mein and other dishes. Plus, when the kids or I were sick there is nothing more soothing to unhappy tummies than a hot bowl of ramen noodles and delicious broth.
