I was born and lived on the east coast until I was 12. I lived just outside of Philadelphia but spent a lot of time in New York visiting my uncle and cousins. What I miss most is the flavors of Philadelphia and New York. That is I did until I found out about the Condiment Connection!
The Condiment Connection offers boxes of your favorite condiments from cities all over the North America. Their current offerings include New York, Chicago, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Now you are probably wondering, what's in the box!
The New York Collection contains, Nathan's Famous Deli Style Mustard, Rao's Marinara Sauce, Momofuku Ssam Sauce and Empire Mayonnaise. I have to confess. I am a Nathan's Hot Dog girl from way back when. The ONLY way to eat a Nathan's hot dog is with some very special New York Deli Mustard. Nathan's Deli Mustard is prepared by Gold's. Gold's makes some of the finest mustards and sauces in the entire Empire state!
Next up is Rao's Homemade Marinara Sauce. Rao's has been in the Italian food business since 1896 when they opened a restaurant in East Harlem. That restaurant has been at the same location for 120 years and now is your chance to have that exquisite marinara at home.
In 2004 David Chang opened Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village. Since then customers have been asking him to bottle his Ssam sauce, a Korean chili based condiment, for use at home.
A German immigrant named Richard Hellmann opened a deli in Brooklyn in 1905. Shortly after he began making his own mayonnaise for salads. Then he began selling it separately and it's yours to take home!
Before I ramble on and tell you what I made from these delicious sauces, I want to tell you what a great Father's Day or Foodie Gift these Condiment Boxes will make. Purchase ANY box by 6/19/16 and you will receive a FREE wooden grill set! Get to shopping and then come back and see what I made!
One of my daughter's favorite things and she was not happy with me when I told her that I was deviating from our normal recipe. I explained that I wanted to incorporate as many of the contents of New York box in this recipe. She'll get over being mad at me!
