Fried Green Tomatoes

Fried Green Tomatoes with Ranch Dressing

We hit up my favorite place in Rapid City on Saturday. The Black Hills Farmer's Market! I brought home a fresh and delicious haul of produce and herbs! One of my farmer's market finds was hydroponic green tomatoes. They were gorgeous!They were also delicious. I saw those tomatoes and immediately began craving fried green tomatoes. There is just something about that crispy outside and tangy inside that is so satisfying!


Sliced Green Tomatoes

I bought 4 tomatoes. Sliced up 2 for frying and left the other 2 on the counter to ripen. They are becoming a beautiful red as I type this. I like to have ranch dressing served with my tomatoes. How about you?

2 Tomatoes, Sliced Thin

Flour Dredge 
1 C Gluten Free Flour
1 TSP Salt
1 TSP Pepper
1 TSP Garlic Powder

2 Eggs, Beaten

Corn Meal Dredge
1 C Yellow Corn Meal
1/4 C Parmesan Cheese, Grated
1 TSP Salt
1 TSP Pepper

Oil for frying

Sliced Green Tomatoes Ready to Dredge

Preheat oil in a large frying pan. This is a shallow fry so you'll only need about an inch of oil.

Let the dredge begin!

Cover tomato in flour, dip in egg and then cover in corn meal.

Place tomatoes on a plate to dry while oil is heating.

Fry tomatoes 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Remove from oil to paper towel covered plate.

Serve with Ranch dressing or your favorite dressing. Enjoy!
