Carnitas with Tostones

This post has been sponsored by McCormick Spices and Imusa. I have received product in exchange for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hispanic Heritage Month

If I had to pick a favorite food culture it would definitely be Hispanic. There is a plethora of ingredients and styles depending on which country you choose providing an infinite variety of wonderful taste combinations. I like to combine different Hispanic styles of cooking because they all complement each other so well. For this meal I made Carnitas which are Mexican in origin with Tostones from Puerto Rico. What a delicious combination they make!

Molly #ShebaCat #shop

This is Molly. She is the QUEEN with a capital Q of my house! I bet your cat is the Queen or King of your house as well. Molly is a finicky eater. Some of the things she likes to eat are good for her and some not so much. We try to keep the unhealthy treats to a minimum.

Hot Chocolate Popcorn Balls

This is what it looked like outside my bedroom window Friday morning. By the time the blizzard ended late Saturday afternoon, we had received 33 inches of snow that turned into 10 foot drifts that surrounded my home and covered my car. We lost electricity Friday night got it back Saturday night and lost it again Sunday morning. I got cable and internet back today but we are still without a phone. Craziness!

Save on Energy Costs with Best Buy and ENERGY STAR

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

Energy Star

October is Energy Awareness Month. This makes it a great time to take a look around your home and find ways that you can save on your own energy costs. The ENERGY STAR program began in 1992 as a way for companies to manufacture appliances that are more energy efficient and reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that are released. I remember years ago when the first ENERGY STAR appliances hit the stores. In those days you would only see the ENERGY STAR ratings on large appliances like refrigerators and washers and dryers. These days you can find televisions and new homes that have ENERGY STAR ratings. I think this is just incredible!

Daregal Herbs Review and Give Away

I received a sampler of Daregal Gourmet fresh frozen herbs to review as a part of a Blog Friendly PR campaign. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received

Daregal Herbs

I love fresh herbs but I have a black thumb! The next best thing is fresh frozen herbs. I recently had the opportunity to give Daregal Fresh Frozen Herbs a try. I was really impressed. I love the little cartons that the herbs come in. I can use as much or as little as I want and pop the container back in the freezer. No thawing necessary! They are a great time saver as well, no chopping necessary!

Garlic Meatloaf

Garlic Meatloaf

It's getting cold at night in South Dakota and can you believe that our first snow storm is expected this Friday! Yes, I said snow! It was in the 80's yesterday and our first snow storm of the year will be here on Friday. I am ok with this. I am ready. The weather change means it is time to change up our dinner menu. Time to bring back soups, stews, chili and my personal favorite, meat loaf!
