Apple Jelly

This post is sponsored by Ball Canning. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3 ingredients for Apple Jelly

Jelly is made from fruit juice. Jam is made from the crushed fruit and preserves contain larges chunks of fruit.

Did you know there are only 3 ingredients in Apple Jelly? That's right, apple juice, sugar and pectin! That's it! Ryan and I made Apple Jelly yesterday and we were surprised at how quick and easy it is to do! I received a Freshtech Automatic Jam and Jelly Maker from Ball Canning. This fun gadget made it even easier to make the jelly!

Freshtech Automatic Jam and Jelly Maker

3 C Apple Juice
4 TBSP Ball RealFruit Classic Pectin
2C Granulated Sugar
1/2 TSP Butter

Measure the apple juice into a large bowl. Whisk the pectin into the juice until is is fully incorporated. Pour juice into the pot of the Freshtech Jelly Maker. (If you do not have one you can pour into a clean pot on the stove.) Add butter. (the butter is not really an ingredient, it's a tip to help prevent foaming and it works great!)

Press the Jelly button - the cook time will automatically set it for 25 minutes. (if you don't have one then you will need to do this on the stove, constantly stirring the jelly so it does not stick or burn.)

Wait 4 minutes for the Jelly Maker to sounds 4 beeps. This is your queue to add the sugar. Add sugar gradually.

The Jelly will continue to cook for the remaining time. (Again if you are doing this stove top continue stirring the entire 25 minutes.) Once the timer sounds you will hit cancel on the Jam and Jelly Maker and remove the plug from the outlet. Skim foam (if there is any.)

That's it, the jelly is ready. You can pour it into freezer safe containers or glass jars. If you are going to use it right away then you don't need to process the jars. If you are going to give as a gift or store for a while then you will need to process the jars in a boiling water bath.

Enjoy your jelly! We plan on making grape jelly next and then maybe a cherry lime jelly. I can't wait!
