Prepping for the Big Game

Game Day Bacon & Onion Dip

I have a confession to make. Ryan and I don't actually watch the Big Game. We watch the Puppy Bowl and then flip back and forth between the Puppy Bowl and the Big Game. We love watching the creativity of the new commercials and the half time fun. No matter what we are watching food plays a big part of the day and shopping for the best deals is just part of the fun.

Female Genital Mutilation: A Human Rights Issue

Female genital mutilation is a term used to describe injury to, or partial or full removal of external female genitalia when it is not medically necessary. My son and my youngest daughter are 15 months apart. For many years it was what I imagine having twins would be like. They loved the same TV shows and any toys that we bought we would have to buy two of the same because they both wanted the same things.

Extraordinary Parenting

Me and the kids

I was watching Katie the other day and the show was about parenting under extraordinary circumstances. They featured parents of autistic kids, parents of prodigies, parents of murderers... You get the picture. Isn't parenting in and of itself an extraordinary circumstance?

Bring Your Own Lettuce #BYOL

Nestle Lean Cuisine Salad Additions Bistro Chicken Salad

Once in a while my co-workers and I would order lunch for delivery from a local restaurant. One of my favorite items on their menu is the Spinach Salad, but it's expensive! $8.29 for one salad! That is a lot of money. Now that I no longer work a traditional job, my budget no longer allows for something so extravagant. But I still love salad for lunch...
