Election day is a big day at my house. I went to vote with both of my children during the last Presidential election. That was a very proud day for me and I even started crying. I plan on voting with them this Tuesday as well. Whatever your political beliefs are, please go out and vote!

We eat a LOT of rice. I love rice. Rice is one of the most versatile grains. I really enjoy experimenting and coming up with new rice dishes. This delicious vegetable pilaf goes with almost any dish.

My daughter has been in love with Mac 'N Cheese since she first started on solid food. My grandmother was a diabetic. My mother-in-law was a diabetic. She went blind from diabetes because she ignored all of the warning signs and once it was diagnosed it was too late to save her vision. My blood sugar has been running higher than normal and my doctor is concerned so I have been trying to eat healthy. I was excited to receive Blood Sugar: Inspiring Recipes For Anyone Facing The Challenge Of Diabetes and Maintaining Good Health by Michael Moore. When I heard the title I thought, "This book is for me!".

There is something about a roast chicken that makes my day. It's comfort food at its best. Once you have roasted a chicken there are so many things you can do with it. I can get 3 to 5 meals out of one roasted chicken. This chicken came out SO juicy and delicious that I will probably make one a week!

Disney's Secret of the Wings is out on DVD today! There is also a line of toys to go with the movie. I was thrilled when I was offered the chance to review a few of these toys because I know one special little girl that I was pretty sure would go nuts over them. I was right! She LOVED them!

I have a confession to make. I am in love with Robert Downey Jr. I am jumping up and down in anticipation of Iron Man 3 coming to theaters May 3, 2013. Today is the last day to register to vote in time for the upcoming Presidential election. I am not going to tell you who to vote for. I am going to tell you that it's important. Please vote. I have been using essential oils for years. I love the way they smell. Sometimes I use them in place of perfume. I have also used them as alternative therapies. If you have been reading my blog for a while then you know I have chronic pain issues. I also get migraines in addition to all the other fun stuff that I experience!

This is a picture of my son Eli with me during a Christmas celebration at a friend's house. This was taken several years ago. I don't have many pictures of Eli because he hates having his picture taken. See the baseball cap and hoodie that he is wearing? That's his uniform! He wears that almost every day of the year along with some ratty jeans and even more horrific shoes and underwear!

It's October. That means we are in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the time of year that sends the breast cancer community reeling. These incredible women (and men) are fighting for their lives. I think every one of you knows what you need to to do protect yourself. Squeeze your boobies once a month. Get to know your body so you know when there is a change. Talk to your doctor about setting up a baseline mammogram and find out when (if) you will need to start yearly follow-ups. Garlic Bread Meatball Sandwiches {Gluten Free}

There is something about meatballs. I don't know what it is but I have been craving them lately. I could eat them every day of the week! Growing up in Philadelphia we had the ubiquitous Philly Cheese Steak but I always loved ordering a Meatball sandwich. There are a couple of places in Rapid City that make excellent meatball sandwiches but we are unable to order them anymore because they are not gluten free. This one is!

Halloween is coming fast! I swear it was just midsummer. There are pumpkins and Halloween costumes and tons of candy in all of the stores. Hershey's sent me a 120 piece assortment of Twizzlers so that I could come up with some awesome Halloween ideas. Guess who doesn't have a crafty bone in their body! Thankfully there is Pinterest! I have found some awesome ideas for your Halloween party! Note: Twizzlers are NOT gluten free so Ryan was unable to have any. :(
