Did you know that Lego has been around since 1949? The first time I became aware of Lego was during a trip to a New York museum in the 60's. At the museum (I can't remember which museum) I saw wondrous displays of impossible things made with Lego. I was mesmerized.
My brother and I received our first set of Lego Building Blocks not long after that trip to the museum. We would sit for hours playing with them. We would build houses and neighborhoods and the afternoon would slip by. Pretty soon we would be called for dinner.
My son also had a tremendous Lego addiction. He had two large pails FULL of assorted Lego parts and would spend hours each day playing with them. Now he is 26 years old and he still has his pails full of Lego.
My grandson fell in love with Lego a few years ago. Lego is a whole different world than it was when I was a little girl. Now you can find Lego Star Wars, Lego Harry Potter and even Lego Super Heroes for kids. Brock went to Lego Land for his birthday two years ago. He lives and breathes all things Lego!
It amazes me how Lego has grown over the years. In addition to those wonderful building bricks that I had as a kid, now there are video games, movies, stores and even amusement parks all based on Lego. I am envious of those whose creativity allows them to build wondrous sculptures from Lego Bricks.
