The kids are grown, now what?: Guacamole

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

I remember the very first time I had guacamole. It was at a restaurant in Chicago called La Chosa's. They served it in an appetizer called Kamush. The most delicious thing I have every eaten. Their Kamush recipe was very simple, a teaspoon of their gorgeous guacamole on top of a fried tortilla chip covered with Chihuahua Cheese and heated in an oven until melted. Then topped with their one of a kind salsa.  From time to time I recreate it at home. I have tried to duplicate their guacamole recipe and this comes pretty close! I hope you enjoy it.

2 Avocados
1/2 Tomato, Chopped
1/4 Red Onion, Chopped
1 TSP Lime Zest
1 TBSP Lime Juice
1 TSP Garlic Powder
1 TSP Ground Cayenne (Less if you don't like it spicy)
1/4 C Sour Cream or Mexican Crema

Mash avocados with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Serve and enjoy!
