Garlic Bread Meatball Sandwiches {Gluten Free}

Garlic Bread Meatball Sandwiches

There is something about meatballs. I don't know what it is but I have been craving them lately. I could eat them every day of the week! Growing up in Philadelphia we had the ubiquitous Philly Cheese Steak but I always loved ordering a Meatball sandwich. There are a couple of places in Rapid City that make excellent meatball sandwiches but we are unable to order them anymore because they are not gluten free. This one is!


Sauce
1 8 Ounce Can Tomato Sauce
2 TBSP Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 TBSP Red Wine
1 TSP Basil
1 TSP Oregano
1/2 TSP Salt
1/2 TSP Black Pepper

Meatballs
1 LB Ground Beef
1 Egg
1 TBSP Gluten Free Soy Sauce (We use San-j)
1/4 C Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 TSP Oregano
1/2 TSP Salt
1/2 TSP Black Pepper
1/4 Red Onion, Minced
1/4 Green Pepper, Minced
3 Provolone Slices

Garlic Bread
2 Gluten Free Baguettes
4 TBSP Butter
1 TSP Garlic Powder
1 C Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 C Mozzarella, Shredded



Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together all the meatball ingredients except for provolone slices and form into 2 inch balls. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. 

Mix together all of the sauce ingredients and spoon over meatballs after baking for 15 minutes. During the last 5 minutes of baking time cover each meatball with 1/4 slice of provolone.

While meatballs are baking prepare the garlic bread. Melt the butter and add the garlic powder. Slice the baguettes in half lengthwise. Brush the butter garlic mixture on the bread. Sprinkle with the Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. Bake for 10 minutes.

Assemble your sandwich and enjoy!
