Thank You, Phyllis Diller

Today is truly the end of an era with the death of Phyllis Diller. I grew up watching Phyllis on The Ed Sullivan Show, Laugh In, Merv Griffin and a host of other programs. She always made me laugh. But more important than the laughter she also taught me a few things along the way.
Phyllis taught me that it is ok for a woman to break into a man's world if she is strong enough and willing to work hard (usually harder than the men work). Phyllis taught me that it's ok to laugh at myself. Making jokes out of a tough situation is a great coping skill. Why sit in a corner and cry when you can stand outside and laugh?

Thank you, Phyllis, for a lifetime of laughter. Thank you for your strength and most importantly, thank you for being a trailblazer.

I leave you with a little Phyllis.
