It's summer and the kids are out of school. Now what are you going to do with them? All of those summer activities seem to cost so much. The only way to afford them is to save money on everything else. Check out these great summer activities offered by Parents.
Fresh vegetables and fruits are in abundance right now! If you have not canned food before it's a great time to learn. There is nothing better than home preserved products for saving you money! July brings us National Can it Forward Day. You will be seeing sales on canning supplies. Stock up!
If you are not a canner you can still take advantage on the great fruits and vegetables at the farmer's market. Berries freeze great! Lay them out on a cookie sheet so they are not touching each other and place the cookie sheet in the freezer. Once the berries are frozen solid (leave them overnight) remove the cookie sheet and place the berries in freezer bags for later use. You can do the same with vegetables. Just blanch the vegetables first then lay them out on the cookie sheet.
June is National Dairy Month. Now is a great time to take advantage of sales on dairy products. Did you know that you can freeze milk, butter and cheese?
Speaking of food sales...Make sure you are checking online for coupons for your favorite products. Match your coupons with the weekly sale at your local grocery store. There are many great blogs that do the sales match ups for you.
The 4th of July is almost here! Hamburger buns, hot dog buns, condiments, hot dogs and ground beef will be going on sale soon. Stock up! But never buy more product than you can use before the expiration date.
Do you shop online? I love shopping online. This is how I purchase the gluten free food products that we like but are not available in my local grocery store. Shopping online is also a great way to save money. Did you know that many stores offer discounts for shopping online? You can find great coupon codes at PromotionCode.org. They offer coupon codes for hundreds of online stores.
There is always a way to save. If you have any other tips let me know!
