Home Hair Removal; Yay or Nay?

Women weren't concerned with body hair when I was a little girl during the 60's. I remember going to the the local swimming pool with my mother and seeing all of these beautiful women in their bathing suits totally unconcerned with hairy legs and other body hair showing. I thought these women were beautiful (Still do!) and I was excited and nervous about growing my own body hair. Would I be as beautiful and confident as these women? I really hoped so.

Flash forward to the 21st century! Now it is shameful to have excess hair. Women torture themselves to get rid of unwanted facial and body hair and I am a little ashamed to admit that I am one of them. I am hairy! I come from a long line of hairy women and have passed this on to my daughters.

So what do we do to ourselves to get rid of all of this hair? Well shaving is always popular and there are tons of different razors and creams and lotions to help you get the smoothest shave. I used to joke that I keep an ambulance on standby when I shave because there is always a lot of blood!

Then there is sugaring. I have never tried this although the process does intrigue me. You use a gel that is made from sugar and other natural products, slather it on the area that you would like to remove hair and wait a bit for it to harden. Once it has you quickly remove it and the hair stays on the sugar.

Next up is waxing! I am sure we are all familiar with spreading the hot wax on, applying the cloth strip and ripping it off! Waxing is always a great time! (insert sarcasm) My son used to watch in horror as I did this.

Hair removal products seem to be improving. Did you know there is now a home laser hair removal system? I am dying to try one! If anyone has tried it I would love to know your thoughts. There are also new epilation machines. Does anyone remember the first one on the market, The Epilady? It worked great for people with fine hair but not so much for coarse hair like mine. But I hear they have improved and I would like to give them a try as well!
